Contact Allergy

the skin comes into contact with the residue of the allergen or one of its components. For example, touching dried milk on the table top.

Cross Contact

when an allergen is inadvertently transferred from a food containing the allergen to a food or contact surface that does not contain the allergen

Cross Contamination

the physical movement or transfer of harmful bacteria from one person, object or place to another

Food Adversion

 a strong dislike for a certain food and the sight, smell or taste makes it impossible to eat without gagging or feeling nauseous

Food Allergy

occur when the body's immune system reacts to certain proteins in food

Food Borne Illness

an illness that comes from eating contaminated food

Ingestion Allergy

knowingly or unknowingly eating the allergen or one of its components

Inhalation Allergy

smelling the steam or vapor of the allergen or one of its components

Known allergen

Refers to any one of the Big Nine allergens

Secondary Reaction

after the first round of symptoms goes away, a second wave of symptoms may appear two to four hours later, may be more severe than initial reaction
